Kisses

The girls helped me unwrap two packages of Hershey’s kisses to make “Peanut Butter Blossoms” (cookies) for Christmas.  I was hesitant to give them this job, but they were enthusiastic and diligent workers.  And they didn’t sneak a single piece of chocolate!  When they were finished, I gave them each one piece for helping me, [...]

Freshly Baked

Yum!  This is the third time I’ve used my good ol’ bread machine (for just the dough cycle) since we unpacked all our belongings in June.  I’ve made pizza dough, whole-wheat raisin bread, and now date granola bread.  I love it!

Baby Food Question

I was wondering if anyone had found an easy solution to making baby food. I can steam foods well enough on the stovetop, but I have yet to find a good way to puree the foods. My blender doesn’t blend unless there’s a lot of liquid at the bottom of it, so I’m not quite [...]

The girls and I went to a bakery outlet in town this week and, for just $10.68, bought all of this bread! Can you believe it?! I couldn’t! We bought 4 loaves of bread, 2 packages of hamburger buns, 2 packages of french rolls, 1 bag of mini bagels, 1 bag of pita bread, and [...]

Carrot Souffle

As Thanksgiving creeps up on us, I thought I would share this yummy and unique dish that we’ve really enjoyed on holidays as well as when we’ve had company. It’s simple to make (the word souffle makes it sound daunting, but it really isn’t!) and it’s great for bringing to a potluck holiday feast, as [...]

Banana Muffins

Banana cake and banana bread usually call for 2 or 3 very ripe bananas, but what can you bake when you have just 1? Here is a yummy recipe that can help use up that last black banana in the fruit basket… Banana Muffins 1 1/4 c. flour (we prefer whole-wheat flour) 1 1/2 c. [...]
